5 Steps To A
Great Dance

This is a list of suggestions that we have seen other schools use to improve the attendence at their dances. These suggestions will also help increase the amount of money you will raise at this and future dances.

(1) GREAT ENTERTAINMENT

    • If you have good entertainment at one dance the word will get around and under most conditions attendance will improve at your next dance. It is very important that you continue to provide good entertainment or the kids will not want to come back and your dances will go downhill from there.

(2) ADVERTISE

    • Make Posters advertising the dance. Put them up two or three weeks before the date of the dance.
    • Announce it during Homeroom or assembly and in all your classes.
    • The more you advertise the dance the better chance you have at a good attendance.

(3) DOOR PRIZES

    • Some retail stores will donate a discontinued item as a door prize at fundraisers.
    • Give away a free movie ticket or dinner at a local favorite restaurant.
    • Give away a free pass to the rest of your schools dances or sports event.

(4) DECORATIONS

    • If you are using our lighting system you decoratons can be pretty simple; some balloons and streamers will be about all you need.
    • If you are using our sound only package you may want to decorate more.
    • Cut our stars, moons or any other shapes that will fit your theme and hand from ceiling on fishing wire.
    • Use streamers and balloons to make a large picture on wall that fits the theme of your dance. (Ex. A Christmas tree for a Christmas dance).

(5) GET THE STUDENTS INVOLVED

    • Let the students help with the decorating, the advertising, finding the door prizes and clean-up.
    • Make sure your put either yourself or a very responsible student in charge.
    • Listen to your students, they may have some good ideas of their own.
